i just did this for facebook, thought i'll just post it here.
they're not exactly 25 RANDOM things, just 25 things about me. not very random leh. but some are random la. ok enjoy (if you even bother to read them)
1) my email diabteo@hotmail.com is derived from 'diablo' and 'teo'. The latter is my surname and diablo used to be my favourite game.. hence the nick. atqhteo is simply my intials + teo. don't ask me how i came up with this i also dunno.
2) i like dark colours. blue black . white. wait, white isn't dark. anyway. i think it relates to my personality, how i'm more of an introvert and hence dont wear bright colours to attract attention.
lol, look at what i'm wearing now (in the photo above), it testifies to this fact.
3) i watch Prisonbreak, lost, OneTreeHill, Chuck, Psych, WLIIA, The OC, Survivor.

4) i like to camwhore! i dunno why also. i dont think i'm very good looking but i'm satisfied with how i look. and i like to take pictures. so. take pictures with me so i can have more photos =)
5) My best friend is a girl, Christabel Chong Shu Ying. no she doesn't have facebook don't bother searching for her. We've been best friends for about 3 years, and i've known her for 6 years.
It's kinda scary how well we know each other, sometimes she can just read my mind. literally.
6) I dont drink, smoke or club.
I think i'm oversensitive to alcohol and turn red very easily. but i'm not drunk when i'm red. just red.
smoking causes lung cancer and it's gross anyway so i will never smoke.
clubbing.. i just havent found a good enough reason to go clubbing, i can't dance anyway.
7) My favourite sport is basketball, though i play all kinds of other sports such as soccer, badminton, etc. i used to play soccer for my primary school team, and i switched to basketball in secondary 1.
8) I'm an avid Warcraft 3 standard game player, and i'll take on anyone in a 1v1 match :) i love the game, love how it's so diverse and challenging, and so much better than boring ol' dota.
9) I think bangs don't look nice on a girl, i don't know why everyone seems to be getting them now.
10) I like to play with kids. not too old, i think around when they hit 7 or 8 they get annoying. Those little ones are cuter and more fun to play with.
11) I've a phobia of carrying babies/toddlers. Last time i did it, it felt extremely awkward so i just put him down (my friend's baby brother), then i put him down on his butt and apparently he's used to crawling and not sitting so he just fell backwards and hit his head and started crying.
I need to learn how to carry them properly :(
12) I prefer dogs to cats. woof.
13) I like all genres of music, from pop to rock to rap to alot of indie styles. I prefer indie groups and think 987 plays trashy music most of the time.
14) i love magic. i can perform some card tricks which will astound you. :p
i don't practise much though so i don't perform much. I've always had a dream to perform on the streets, just go around to random people to show them a trick or two. I may do that.. soon. :)
15) I play the guitar and drums. I can play abit of piano but just.. some songs which i learnt in my 3 grades of piano when i was little.
16) I could jump 261cm for SBJ and do 74 situps in secondary 2. ^^
17) I can only jump <243cm for SBJ and <50 situps now.
18) my most recurrent nightmare (or dream) is one which i have to pee and will be looking for a toilet most of the dream. close to the end of the dream i'll find one and go to pee. but after that i'll still have the i-need-to-pee feeling. then i'll wake up. and need to pee.
19) I love my red specs. i think i'll look absolutely boring and scary if i wore normal specs.
20) The longest name i've heard of is John Sebastian Francisco Melchizidek. He's part of my clique in JC, with an idiot called tan tee hao.
21) i used to compete with my friends in 'xi zhi' in primary school (the writing thing in Chinese lessons to teach you how to write words, where you write a particular word like 10 times) to see who could finish faster.
I always won.
22) I used to want to be a writer. I was writing stories when i was just primary 3. short ones of course.
dont know why and when the passion faded. around when i enterred secondary school perhaps.
23) my current game nick (which i only use when i play dota on LAN, since my b-net (warcraft) nick can't be changed otherwise i'll lose all my stats) is crAzer, and it's inspired by my mouse and my best friend.
my mouse is a Razer krait, and my best friend's name starts with a 'C'. the letter 'A' is capitalized obviously because my name starts with an A.
24) i wish i could dance as well as U-min or hamutsun serve (go youtube them)
25) I correct people's English alot. i can't stand bad grammar, it's as annoying as smelly people in a packed train to me. I don't speak very eloquently, but i do try to speak with proper structure and grammar though NS is seriously eroding my standard of English.

like nephew, like uncle
sigh, my long long CNY break is coming to an end, have to book in tonight. :(
this week is short but isn't slack. I'm duty sergeant tmr (must take care of the platoon), and thurs and friday is combat shoot! or ATP or something like that. must shoot the targets one la.
stress sia.
if i get marksman (80% i think) i'll get $200!! that's like, my token for new clothes. haha.
anyway, i have a new addiction-

I don't quite know how i stumbled onto the first video which i started watching.. but once i started i couldn't stop.
The concept of the show is simple - these 4 comedians who are super super good at IMPROVISATION. means u give them a scenario to act out and they will just improvise and come out with lines on the spot.
so they will participate in various 'games' as dictated by the show and improvise and come up with lines.
the results.. freaking funny!! here's a few of my favourites:

sucky dinner
ok just had reunion dinner with my mom's side.. @ Concorde Hotel (the one next to Istana)
and.
dont. ever. go. there.
The food is sucky. It was a buffet, and there were probably less than 8 dishes to pick from. (not including the fruits/dessert of course) Some of them i took one bite and spat out. Well maybe cos i dunno how to eat, but still. bleahz.
the leftover yusheng which noone wants to touch cos it's so yucky.

And the service was terrible! ok the 'waitress' waiting on my table was this.. sixty year old woman who is a bit senile. Seriously not to be biased or what but i think restaurants should have an age cap for waitresses.
I mean, having sixty year old aunties walking around isn't very good for the ambience is it? I'm not saying i want like young slim sexy twenty year old waitresses, but at least like, younger and more pleasant looking.
Mine looked like she was sucking a lemon.
And, i asked for a refill of my water.. she said 'hao' (ok) then.. went around clearing plates. then walk around. then my water only came a good 15 minutes later -_- if i was dying of thirst i'd be dead by then.
SRSLY. i was quite pissed with her wanted to make some sarcastic comment. Cos i drank finish the water in my cup then left like 1/4 cup of ice. by the time she came only got water left. o.0
average decor.
my average-cute nephew who made the night less torturous as i could observe his totally random actions like covering himself with the napkin, etc.
not camera-friendly one he.
complimentary bottle of wine, which i think noone will take given the standard of the food.
ok to sum up the whole experience and to let you understand how pathetic the place was.. have a look at the God of Wealth that the hotel hired.

hahahahha. i seriously almost burst out laughing when i saw him. he's like some skinny nerdy-looking guy who has to pack some pillow for his stomach and pants looks like its dropping, and .. OMG THE BEARD. rofl!! it's like some nursery art and craft gone wrong.
hahahah what a joke. i actually went around the place looking for him to take this photo, and he's nice enough to stop and smile for me.hahaha.
ok, off to game the whole night byez.

chinese new year
yday my mom asked me a deep question, something that doesn't occur very often. She asked "does Chinese New Year have any meaning to you?"
In the past, i used to look forward to CNY because of one thing - the angbaos. i mean, who doesnt? i didn't get alot of allowance, just enough to have my meals, so extra stuff like luxury items, i'll have to eat less and skimp on meals to save up for them. Hence the angbaos are like.. boosters =)
Now? With my $760 monthly pay, although quite meagre, it's still alot more than my allowance in the past ($2 a day , x30 = $60 a month. ) Hence my perspective of money has changed, and i spend alot more.
And given i have little relatives, and none are like tycoons or anything with most being from average or below average backgrounds, the total amount of angbaos i get is only about.. $100++ ?
so my angbao is now 5/38 of my income while in the past it was 5/3. -_-
so i dont really eagerly anticipate the angbaos anymore.
Family-wise.. i'm not very close to my cousins, due to the age difference. On my mom's side, my cousins are at least 4-6 years older than me, with the average being 8 years older. (my bro's 12 years older). how to be close lidat.
On my dad's side.. well i'm not close to my dad's side at all, only see them once a year.
So there's no excitement or eagerness to meet my cousins or aunties or whatsoever.
Festive mood? i'm more of the Western type, i dont really bother much about Chinese stuff. omg i looked at my bestie's China Studies notes.. i wouldnt read it even if you paid me. well maybe i will, depending on how much you're paying. but. you get the point. it's ultra boring!
So CNY doesn't really stir up my festive excitement either.
but but but.
there is one thing i totally love about CNY-
THE HOLIDAY. woot woot. booked out last thurs, so it's friday,sat,sun,mon,tues. 5 whole days of holiday!!! woo!! it's almost equivalent to a block leave or something.
I love this free time when i can just slack at home.. and well ok visit here and there. but mainly slack.
So what does Chinese New Year mean to me? It simply means , a long break =X
So let me stretch my legs and lean back, and enjoy =)
Happy Chinese New Year Eve to all! Enjoy your tuan yuan fan! (reunion dinner)

CRYSIS Warhead review
wowowow. i just started playing Crysis Warhead yday.. and it's really fun!
It's basically a FPS mission based game, something like Ghost Recon , but it's much much more fun as there's alot of environmental interaction and the game's attention for details is just amazing.
Firstly, the graphics are almost real-life real. everything is drawn in so much detail that it feels like you're actually THERE, running through the jungle and flanking the enemy and kiling them.

here's a sample of it. look at how detailed the grass, weapon model, explosion.. etc is.
The downside is obviously you need to have a high-end or fairly decent graphics card to run the game without lag. Mine's Geforce 9800 GT, and i have no lag at all, even with x4 antialias (i'm not quite sure what this is but i heard it's to sharpen the details. so x8 will be even sharper, etc)
Next, the gameplay is easy to grasp but complicated enough to not bore the avid gamer - You play as Psycho, this guy who wears a nanosuit, which is a special suit that allows you to powerup in different modes, such as Stealth, Strength and Speed modes.
For instance, there's an enemy roadblock up ahead. How do you clear it?
To be an extremely boring person, you can just play in Defence mode all the way, and play it CS /COD style, just shoot and kill the enemies with your precision shooting.
Or, imagine this: Switch to Speed mode and dash up the side and into the jungle. When within their proximity quickly switch to stealth mode and sprint up to them from behind. They're totally unaware - they're still manning their gun systems, whistling, or even peeing. Go up close to one of them, grab him by the throat, pull back , drop him and kill him with your pistol (equipped with silencer beforehand of course)
Sneak up to the next guy and do the same thing, or just outright open fire in the back of his head.
With this variety of strategies to approach every encounter, you're sure to enjoy the experience of deciding what to do and actually executing it.
Like just now i just cleared an entire building of enemies by using Stealth and Speed mode.. you can actually hear them say 'Enemy!' then 'where did he go?' then i creep up behind and kill them silently =)
You also get to control various vehicles and operate their gunnery systems. Yes, you can also run over enemies with your vehicle =)
Lastly, it's the attention for details that amaze me the most, as it makes the game extremely realistic.
As mentioned above, enemies have different 'alertness levels', which is triggered by your actions. For example if you open fire at them obviously their alertness level hits the max and they're quickly scrambling to take cover and returning fire.
However if you stealth up undetected as decribed above, they'll be doing casual stuff like whistling.. walking around with their weapons resting on the floor, even peeing! haha. i ever grabbed a guy while he was peeing and killed him.
Talking about AI (artificial intelligence.. or rather the computer's brains la. ), the enemies are pretty intelligent! They will try their best to take cover the moment they're under threat. Also when you throw a frag grenade towards them, they have the common sense to try to run away from the grenade.
Oh and they do TALK also. for instance when you pop out and fire they'll shout 'enemy! ' "return fire!" and other speeches would be like "where did he go!" "grenade!" etcetc.
There's also the idle chatting, e.g. when their alertness level is low.
Other details would be if a frag grenade lands near you and you're close enough, you get temporarily dazed and your screen goes blurry. Same goes when you take alot of enemy fire and you're wounded, your vision gets blurred and your firing becomes unsteady. I think i recall falling to the floor once too after getting heavily wounded, and i had to jump back up and run back to take cover.
Down to the minor details which normal games dont have - e.g. in a snowy terrain , you find the scope of your weapons frosted with snow! you have to quickly switch to the iron sight or rear sight to aim.
You can actually put more bullet holes in an enemy you've killed ^^
This game is extremely realistic and its attention for details has sucked me in. It has crashed twice so far though. Once when my Antivirus started scanning yday, and the 2nd time was before i started this blogpost.. seemingly at a random time.
Maybe graphics setting too high already ha. oh well. still funn.
I'll give it a 10/10 ! haha. go try it out if you can man. Crysis rocks.

let's see.
on monday i went for icecream buffet! it was at some ulu place at farrer park MRT
cafe domus!
see even the sign is like chapalang. haha ok fine it looks decent at least not like vanguard draw or what.
the gorgeous wallpaper saved the place from looking too shabby.
and our group photo is on facebook, im lazy to go steal.
the first scoop of icecream! vanilla i think. got peanutbutter.. rumraisin, milo, chocolate, peach and mango, cinnamon, strawberry
sounds like alot? well no, cos the scoop is super small as you can see. so . not filling one.
and the icecream wasnt like mouthwatering good. just. normal.
then this was just an amusing observation i made of a shop near my house.
now this is an AIRCONDITIONER shop. selling all the aircons and boasting of the best deals..
but see the red arrow? you cant see very clearly in the picture, but.. it's a fan -_-
yes, they actually placed a fan on the front chair of the shop right in front of everyone to show how powerful their aircons are.

life is good
ah, i'm in a good mood.
my brand new com, although very troublesome in the sense i have to DL all my stuff all over again.. it's freaking imba! i'm enjoying the ultra fast speed of it.. boots super fast (well for now, i dunno after installing everything if it'll be considerably slower) and can switch windows and navigate with NO LAG. suiiii.
and well, today played BOTH soccer and basketball! woo.
soccer was fun cos i scored several goals and made several assists, including one perfectly weighted long ball to gabs who scored a bicycle kick ^^ hahah.
the difference btwn soccer & bball is that since much less goals/points are scored in soccer, they feel more shiok. like in bball if i score i just.. nonchalantly walk away. cos it's rather frequent. but in soccer just score one goal and i'm pumping my fist and high-fiving my teammates.
bball was fun too cos i had the FEEL. yknow , the feeling when you release the ball and you know for sure it's gonna go in and can murmur 'chop/swoosh' to your marker who's stumbling into you. shiook.
didnt win alot of games though.. though i think my team played pretty well most of the games, just suay suay let in some lucky baskets. lol.
have to be super thrifty now ! spending $915 is no joke. must save save. cheapo #3? =)

it's blank!
ok my computer is running as fast as lightning.. mainly because it's pretty empty at the moment. i just switched to my new 500gb HD, completely ceasing the use of my old one (by disconnecting the data cable) .
SO TROUBLESOME CAN. i have to now download just about everything. not just programmes, but little things that i didnt know i had, like codecs for my media player to play video files, etc.
and have to install warcraft again, have to install directx all that dunno what nonsense!
ok la, just hope my com is lightning fast all the time with its imba specs. dont fail me computer!!

this week in camp was kinda fun, with Close Combat Training all the way. we learnt break falls, several locks and release from holds. quite fun , some quite useless, but fun nonetheless.

i just got a new com!! hah. cos my old one is.. well, kinda old. and the power pluug was gonna die very soon . so i went to SimLimSquare today..
whee.
Went to some shop my friend recommended.. the guy was quite pro la, after i gave him my budget he just skipped around grabbing boxes and putting them on the counter. these are the final specs:

happy anniversary!!!
woohoo!! i'm officially one year in the army!!!
ah, i found my last blog post BEFORE i enterred army. means it was on 10th january 2008. i still recall very vividly what i did that night! :O

today was pretty fun. just spent the afternoon chilling with yvon darryl and some others, then we went to play CS!! lolol. yvon and clara went!! lolololol. there were about 16 ppl la. super alot. and well. it was the girls' first time playing. so they dunno anything.
i tried my best to teach yvonne.. but she got a headache halfway so had to stop playing =X
killed them a few times also lol. but hard la, quite instinctive when i see an enemy to just raise the gun to their head and tap tap. but i think 2-3 times i saw clara then i switched to knife and ran up and killed her :D lolol.
speaking about clara.. i've been psychoing daniel and her to quickly record some duet, cos i think she's damn talented and daniel is.. well, good. if you didn't know his youtube acct is pretty famous.. ure quite outdated. he has 7266 subscribers la wth.
anw today they recorded a practice version of a song they're gonna do soon (When both have the time. which is soon right?!? i've waited since last year!)
there's a noisy bike that drives past near the end.. sorry for that.
otherwise.. take a listen. (like yknow, take a look) and .. if you think clara is good, LET HER KNOW. because she's freaking humble and anti-herself and thinks she sucks to the max and blablbala.

'class' outing
ok what was supposed to be a class outing turned out more to be like a.. clique outing + elias + hoiki.
yups, abovementioned and me john teehao went for dinner at cityhall today, organised terribly by yours truly. but it's cos one girl cannot come, then she's like the main organizer of such stuff, and when she doesnt go then hard to get other girls to come also. then the other guys all got stuff on.
so .. just us. we ate at EXPENSIVE asian kitchen! omg it's just like.. normal order several dishes + white rice. like u go those outside coffeeshop have also. but like more expensive and smaller portions?
the bill was 85bucks! for 5 ppl. $$.
finally caught up with teehao and was fun just reminiscing about JC. ahh.
damn i dont know wazzup with the camwhore spirit in me, super inactive. i didnt even suggest a photo the whole night, lucky john at the last part say 'eh eh we never take photo of our outing'
so we stopped at the tunnel to esplanade to take

zomg i dunno wazzup with my weird looking hair. and the freaking spotlight is on me. so ugly!
supposed to look cool or sth. but i look so sloppy bleahz.

random post
i dont have a central theme for this post, just random things i've to say.
Firstly, is anyone else getting highly annoyed by the MSN virus thing? I'm getting an average of 3-5 per day, and it's freaking annoying.
You know, the random msg you'll get from a contact who has the virus that goes sth like 'View my party pics! go to partygirls.com/sd83e.htm' or some nonsense like that.
MSN should quickly come up with a patch to fix this damn virus, it's really annoying.
and those ppl who tio it are kinda dumb, why do they click some totally random and porn-sounding website address.
Next, i just bought new hair wax! it's the Gatsby Moving Rubber one. and the container is super stylish la i love it
it's damn nice. mine's this pink one. the lime green one the nicest but very weak.
this one super strong la! i applied it for the first time today and i could feel my hair being pulled into place. lol.
If you wondered why it's called 'moving rubber', it's cos this version of gatsby wax allows you to style and restyle again, hence allowing u to 'move' ur hair la. yknow like normal wax/gel you style already it's like stuck in place. for this you can always rearrange it several hours later. no problems.

Oh yes, i just bought my new old phone! haha. for armyy. it's a nokia 1200
looks pretty sleeek eh. it's so small and ridiculously light!! it's like lighter than my sony ericsson.
let's see.. it's 77 g! that's like. probably the weight of an empty can drink. it's definitely the lightest phone i ever had.
yes, it's non-colour. it's extremely basic, but i like it cos it's small and smsing is easy with the soft
ergonomic keypad.
HOWEVER i've discovered a major flaw - i'm unable to add smileys to the dictionary!! you know you can add like ':)' and ':p' to your dictionary.. then next time u type dot dot the smiley will automatically come out. but 1200 cannot!! :( have to go manually add. zz
AND.
the contacts is damn screwed up.. it auto arranged the contacts based on last name and as long as you saved it previously with space, e.g. 'Alan's HP', it assumes 'HP' is the last name.
so most of my contacts are 'Hp;alan '. then i cant search for a contact fast cos i have to key in the semicolon. zz.
ok other than these 2 flaws, it's pretty nice to use.
ok to end off, this is just an unintendedly super funny review of 1200 which i random chanced upon. i've highlighted the funny part so you can ignore the rest if you want:

bring it on, 2009
as the little kiddies go back to school and the males a year my junior brace themselves for their horrible 22-24 months in one of the most disorganized organisations here, i prepare to embark on my final 11 months.
Was shopping for a new phone (non-camera one, for army. my old one spoilt) yday and the salesman was trying to sell me some model. he said "this model very good one, can last you your 1 year 10 months" to which i smugly replied "11 months left."
=)
anyway, let's take a look at the significant upcoming events of 2009:
End Jan - CNY! my next long break. after this break i think no more long breaks already. so. must treasure :'( sniff.
Mar-Apr - CSB 32km route march. zomg i dont know how i'm going to complete this. never did it before, and with my recurring knee injury, it really seems doubtful. who cares about the badge anyway. zzz.
April-May - forgot the exact date, but i'm going back to Taiwan for training again -__- this time it's shorter, about 2 weeks. the weather is going to be blazing scorching relentlessly hot.
June 10th - bestie's turning 18! ha. finally legal to purchase alcohol and smokes.
lol not that she does. just. saying.
Oct5th - come this date, i wont be a 'teen' anymore! twenty already!! ahh. hm, next year is my 21st. most people throw some bday party or something for their 21st. i wonder if i should. haha. like quite troublesome. anyone wanna throw the party for me? lol.
Nov 10th - ORD LOH! free from the shackles of the military. woot woot. party time.
the sad thing is bestie probably wont be around cos she'll be going america for several months. who to celebrate with then? :/

the new year post.
i anticipate this to be a loong post, so be forewarned =)
happy new year! this was the first year in a long time that i haven't been able to countdown! :(
so sad. cos i was on duty at jurong. i ended day shift and so was quite shack, was more or less asleep then SOMETHING woke me up at 11.58, i dunno if it was my internal body clock or my friends talking or what, but i did.
Then the smses started coming in.. could hear some people shouting in the distance.. wow. welcome 2009.
i've been thinking about how to structure this post cos i've SO much to say, and after some blog hopping, ill do it in 3 parts:
-review of 2008
-resolutions of 2009
-random stuff
3 Rs! woo. ok let's go.
ok, how has 2008 been? If i had to describe it in one word, i would say .. it has been a year of 'growth'. Yes, this is the most concise term that can describe everything that has happened. 'develop' is another possible word. well to be in proper tense it would be 'development'. oh well
I've definitely grown physically stronger, after entering the army. But physical strength aside, i've grown alot mentally. I've learnt that i can handle much more than i thought i could. i've learnt how to push myself beyond my limits, to endure.
One of my toughest experiences was definitely the taiwan trip .. training in the ruthless terrain and unrelenting weather was the ultimate test of endurance. but i made it through! and the main thought was really the 760dollars/month that i would be getting if i did. =) heh
friends? easily the year when i made the most acquaintances. and when i learnt how to make a 5-minute-acquaintance. (i.e. get to know someone in 5 minutes) Note that 'acquaintances' are not 'friends'. Acquaintances are people you wave to when you see on the street but dont talk to , friends are those you stop and talk to when you see them.
And with army you can make alot of acquaintances, cos it's so easy to make conversation with an NSF, just start with the basic questions like 'what company in BMT' , 'which unit', 'do you know xxx ' blabla. so easy. hahaha
ah, i really solidified my relationship with bestie this year. i'm like so certain i want her to be my bestie for like .. forever? like i've told her to be my best woman (like best man?) for my wedding already . hahaha. she's just so reliable and i can trust her with just about anything. love ya chris =)
relationships? well i ended one in the beginning, but it was a pleasant experience for sure. not the ending of it la, the .. duration of it. at least the separation wasn't a miserable one, but rather a mutual one that i felt was for the better.
i feel like i've grown more confident. maybe because as a spec in army i have to speak up in front of my men, have to lead them. or maybe because i'm buying alot of new clothes so i think i look better and have better self -esteem. i dont know. but i feel more confident and can walk with my head up higher
i definitely wont forget this past year because of ARMY.. and i cant wait for this current year of 2009 to end.. because ill ORD in november =)

-Stay positive
This is just about the #1 rule of survival in the army. once you start being negative and complaining.. it just spreads to everyone around you and life is miserable. as long as i can remain positive, my life will be more enjoyable and time will pass faster =)
-be a good influence
It's extremely tough not to conform to the ills of army, but ill try my best to be squeaky clean , as much as it makes me an outcast, but i will try!
-grow fitter
i needa be fitter to pass my SOC and to be able to push my men on such as during those crazy route marches. ugh. time to do some pushups and crunches everyday. and i want my solid camgigandet-abs back, so ill start doing those crunches ^^ hahaha
-make more friends
learning to make 5minute acquantainces has left me with an addiction - to make friends. hahah. i'm still shy and wont be liek some social butterfly but i certainly dont mind making more friends! ^^

happy new year! this was the first year in a long time that i haven't been able to countdown! :(
so sad. cos i was on duty at jurong. i ended day shift and so was quite shack, was more or less asleep then SOMETHING woke me up at 11.58, i dunno if it was my internal body clock or my friends talking or what, but i did.
Then the smses started coming in.. could hear some people shouting in the distance.. wow. welcome 2009.
i've been thinking about how to structure this post cos i've SO much to say, and after some blog hopping, ill do it in 3 parts:
-review of 2008
-resolutions of 2009
-random stuff
3 Rs! woo. ok let's go.
ok, how has 2008 been? If i had to describe it in one word, i would say .. it has been a year of 'growth'. Yes, this is the most concise term that can describe everything that has happened. 'develop' is another possible word. well to be in proper tense it would be 'development'. oh well
I've definitely grown physically stronger, after entering the army. But physical strength aside, i've grown alot mentally. I've learnt that i can handle much more than i thought i could. i've learnt how to push myself beyond my limits, to endure.
One of my toughest experiences was definitely the taiwan trip .. training in the ruthless terrain and unrelenting weather was the ultimate test of endurance. but i made it through! and the main thought was really the 760dollars/month that i would be getting if i did. =) heh
friends? easily the year when i made the most acquaintances. and when i learnt how to make a 5-minute-acquaintance. (i.e. get to know someone in 5 minutes) Note that 'acquaintances' are not 'friends'. Acquaintances are people you wave to when you see on the street but dont talk to , friends are those you stop and talk to when you see them.
And with army you can make alot of acquaintances, cos it's so easy to make conversation with an NSF, just start with the basic questions like 'what company in BMT' , 'which unit', 'do you know xxx ' blabla. so easy. hahaha
ah, i really solidified my relationship with bestie this year. i'm like so certain i want her to be my bestie for like .. forever? like i've told her to be my best woman (like best man?) for my wedding already . hahaha. she's just so reliable and i can trust her with just about anything. love ya chris =)
relationships? well i ended one in the beginning, but it was a pleasant experience for sure. not the ending of it la, the .. duration of it. at least the separation wasn't a miserable one, but rather a mutual one that i felt was for the better.
i feel like i've grown more confident. maybe because as a spec in army i have to speak up in front of my men, have to lead them. or maybe because i'm buying alot of new clothes so i think i look better and have better self -esteem. i dont know. but i feel more confident and can walk with my head up higher
i definitely wont forget this past year because of ARMY.. and i cant wait for this current year of 2009 to end.. because ill ORD in november =)

resolutions of 2009!
-Stay positive
This is just about the #1 rule of survival in the army. once you start being negative and complaining.. it just spreads to everyone around you and life is miserable. as long as i can remain positive, my life will be more enjoyable and time will pass faster =)
-be a good influence
It's extremely tough not to conform to the ills of army, but ill try my best to be squeaky clean , as much as it makes me an outcast, but i will try!
-grow fitter
i needa be fitter to pass my SOC and to be able to push my men on such as during those crazy route marches. ugh. time to do some pushups and crunches everyday. and i want my solid camgigandet-abs back, so ill start doing those crunches ^^ hahaha
-make more friends
learning to make 5minute acquantainces has left me with an addiction - to make friends. hahah. i'm still shy and wont be liek some social butterfly but i certainly dont mind making more friends! ^^

Ok this post is coming to an end. before that.. how many of you listened to 987FM's top 100 sound countdown? the link to all 100 songs is here .. and i'm quite angry with it. So many trash songs make it so high up the list (handlebars is at 45!!??) and the good songs fall behind (Spiralling-Keane is LAST ?! Realize is 98?! ) ugh. i hate 987
alright, im getting uber tired suddenly. must be the long duties. zz. good-first-night-of-2009!
