Faith

I just had an interesting revelation recently, about 2 days ago when i was reading this book called "Reaching for the Invisible God"

My christian faith was never in doubt - i never stopped believing that Jesus is God and blabla all that. But i DID have many questions that i never received satisfying answers to.

For example, one thing which i always had problems accepting was that - Christians seem to shape what they say to accomodate the fact that God is good.
Ok for example.. when bad things happen, christians will say oh it's part of God's plan, everything will eventually turn out fine, and they seem to help push all the blame off God when bad things happen, but when good things happen, they praise God and all.
As the author of the book writes : "How can i praise God for the good things in life without censuring him for the bad?"

Indeed, how? Then the author presents this simple analogy which struck home .. it made total sense and i realised i've been thinking about it the wrong way. I hope i'm not violating any copyright laws by typing it out here:

"I find a parallel in human relationships. If i am waiting for my friend Larry at a rendezvous point, and he has not shown up an hour past the agreed-upon time, I do not start cursing his irresponsibility and thoughtlessness. Years of friendship have taught me that Larry is prompt and reliable. I assume that something -- a flat tire? an accident? -- over which he had no control has thwarted his plans. Those i love, i credit for good things and try not to blame for bad, assuming instead other forces are at work"

It's true isn't it? In our relationship with God, i'm sure we've had experienced some blessings which he has showered upon us. Good friends, a comfortable home.. loving parents . etcetc.
Over time, we've established the fact that God is a loving God.

Hence when tough times come.. we shouldnt automatically blame God and all. On the contrary, it may be 'other forces at work' , such as the devil himself trying to plant seeds of doubt in us like to Job in the Bible.
Just bear in mind that God will not let us suffer more than what we can bear. Instead, through our sufferings, we learn to become stronger, more resilient, more durable.

i hate megavideo!

grr.

ok in the past when i dl-ed all my shows to watch it in fantastic avi quality, the one site i hated most was RAPIDSHARE.. because it seemed like the popular choice for uploaders and downloaders , but it apparently doesnt work in singapore. and hence the majority of links were rapidshare. irritating.

and now, when i stream videos in inferior quality.. everyone keeps uploading onto megavideo!
and megavideo is damn annoying can!
it keeps on displaying the 'you have viewed #insert random number# minutes of video today. please wait #anotherrandomnumber# minutes to watch again. '
damn annnoying! especially when im watching an episode halfway (just happened to me for OTH)

cmon, why cant the uploaders upload like.. those divx web players one. those are excellent. Heroes used to be always uploaded on that but now dunno why no more.

sigh ok, tmr (or today , actually, since it's past midnight) have to return back to camp and subsequently juro ng isl and. one more week of deplo yment and this is over! srsly, de ployment is mighty tiring. you think just standing guard there is simple and slack.. imagine doing it from 8pm - 8am. freaking tiring!

will be out on sunday night. till then.. takkaire peeps. may blog an entry tmr morning b4 i leave if anything inspires me.

i like you alot.
but i think it's impossible

<3 daiso

happy birthday to me.. 2 days ago. =)

spent it with chris at vivo, watched House Bunny which i thought was pretty darn funny and Ana Faris does an EXCELLENT job at her role which i think she totally fits, as a dumb bimbotic blond. cos she plays that exact character in the whole Scary Movie franchise.

thanks for all the wishes... whether you only remembered/realised after you saw/heard someone else wishing me.. or saw me carrying that obtrusive giant 'A' thingy that cheryljie gave me.(she wished me 'happy 20th bday' in the card. :/)
and if you are one of those that went 'oh noo sorry i forgot to get u a present. i promise i get you want next week!!' and you really meant it instead of just saying it for fun.. well bring the present the following week (19th Sun) cos this sunday im still deployed.at jurong island.
=)

ok but anw this post isn't about my birthday, 19 isn't all that important. (maybe 20 is. 21 definitely is) . It's about Daiso! you heard about it? the 2 dollar shop. everything in the shop sells for 2 dollars. and they really sell everything from boxes to ornaments to earrings to baskets to snacks.
and they're all for 2 dollars!
And because they're a Jap franchise.. they have the typical 'engrish' that i can't help but notice =) here are some which i noted down.

(sorry u have to turn ur head for some.. the stupid rotating thing's not working again)
