yea it's halloweeeen today! pretty sad we don't celebrate it here in singapore, would be pretty fun eh? trick or treat! free candy ! woo!

ok fine i'm a little old for that. ok i'm gonna do some quick movie reviews, so you no-school-no-exam ppl can go watch (or decide not to watch)


Halloween (2007)
A horror flick about a small boy who's some sorta sociopath, crazy crazy one. Kills his father, sister and her boyfriend on Halloween. He gets rehabilitated into some mental hospital, and 15 years later he manages to escape and goes on a killing spree, as he searches for his baby(now teenage) sister.
Just quite violent, some parts relatively scary. Quite no plot, quite dumb actually. And kinda sad how it ends. I would not recommend this show, waste of time.

A reality show about survival in the jungle gone horribly wrong, as the contestants trepass into cannibals' territory.
Terribly sick show (gory), quite freaky, scary at parts. The cannibals look freaking scary. Good to watch if you want to scare yourself.

Next (2007)
About a guy who can see 2 minutes into the future, and the FBI try to get him to help them uncover a Russian terrorist plan. (stars nicholas cage and jessica biel. jessica biel is a hottie so just watch)
HA ok no that's not the point. The show is really good! It's quite funny and exciting, as you see how Nicholas Cage dodge authorities as he can see 2 minutes into the future. Quite a show, with a nice twist, GREAT to watch! Highly recommended!

sorry for the lack of posts with substance lately. By substance i mean like.. more thoughts? personal stuff? yea. I took a look at the current page of my blog (as in all the posts you can see when you click http://alanz-.blogspot.com) and realised that none were like.. -feeeling- blogs. Yknow, like when you got the -feeling- then you can write a damn long and insightful blog. Or at least interesting (or so i think).
So thanks for still visiting my blog when it's boring! My blogder (blog reader) pool is small but loyal! <3 (or so i think again. lol. ) Quality before quantity!

ANND, guess what, i've got the feeling now!! yea! Actually had it on my way home from church today, but didn't wanna use the computer so soon and wanted to study. but after going through 8 chapters of physics, i decided to blog before i lost the feeeling then go back to finish up the other 3 chapters (11 chapters of J1)

I don't know if it's just me or perhaps it's the period of life i'm going through, i keep getting hit by waves of nostalgia and i find myself reminiscing more than before.

Like just today when mike mentioned the basketball league in 2008 (which i wont get to take part in cos of stupid NS), i was suddenly immersed in thoughts of the previous bball competition (1 of only 2 bball competitions in my life) i went for, at CCAB in bukittimah.
Thoughts about how well i played (well besides the steal off gabs, (gabs is my team) i thought i played rather well. and gabs agreed too.), and how i could have played better. The feeling of walking to the changing room and thinking about the game that just ended. Sweat-soaked, but proud, nonetheless.

And that particular game.. the one where we started with joel,tianen,gabs, where my bad decision may have cost us the game.

Ok i was the team captain in case you didnt know (stupid ben go put me as captain), so i was kinda responsible for deciding the teams. (though i was extremely democratic) So with that particular lineup, it would be natural to play a low-post game, pass to joel/tianen at lowpost and they attack the basket using their height advantage.
However, i think joel was very nervous or something, and he was playing quite badly. Like pass to him , FIRST PASS, he would just shoot. -_- And there was noone inside to take rebound obviously, since he was supposed to get rebounds and it was just off the first pass.
Our team started trailing by a bit, so a substitution was necessary. But because before the game Tianen mentioned something about his ankle giving him problems, so i had his injury in mind, and asked alwyn to sub tianen instead of the correct choice of subbing joel out.
And yea, we lost that game.
(no i'm not blaming joel for that loss. we all made our mistakes. i threw one ball out of bounds (supposed to be a pass to either pewi or tianen but both ran away) . but, i just made a wrong substitution on that one. :( )


Basketball aside, i've been thinking about the past 12 years of education. like wow, it's all over. And my next phase of life after NS will be crucial. Yknow they all say PSLE is impt as it decides which path you take, then O levels is impt as it decides which path you take.
Guess what, now i have to decide which DESTINATION i want to reach.

When i look at little kids running around nowadays, once in a while i'm just struck by how carefree they are. Seriously, having no worries about tomorrow, they just enjoy today. Wouldn't life be great like that?

As i look back at all the friendships, the enmities, the joy, the sorrow, the fun, the heartbreaks, i realised how much each incident has built me up even more. Some people i won't miss, some people i just want to see again. My wrong decisions come back to haunt me, making me wish i could go back in time to change them.

Now as i look ahead.. what is there in the near future? I need to get past this freaking screwed up 4weeks of exam. Seriously! 5 subjects and it takes 4 weeks to finish?!? ridiculous!
just as christabel said just now in an SMS:
"damn weird la i think cambridge use their feet to think of the (exam) timetable"
LOL.
That seriously made me Laugh Out Loud when i first read it.
Yes, so i need to get past this exam period which cambridge used their feet to plan, need to keep studying though i've already studied (i have to study for phys/chem 3 times each, because both of them have 3 papers each,and each paper is on a diff week -_- )

Then after that.. post exam celebrations!! rawr. made some plans already, gonna marathon some shows like heroes/pb, watch movies , play standard game /dota, go out, play badminton.
Oh and i really have to start swimming again. I never got any medal in swimming (most people i know who can swim all got lifesaver (one step up after gold medal), stopped learning halfway. So i need to refresh my swimming ability.. otherwise in army must go for training when other ppl who can swim can rest.
And i gotta exercise!! ugh yes.

Every minute every second will be precious.

And it begins now.

ok ive had quite a few people questioning my last 2 lines of my previous post, so just want to clarify - obviously i meant it in a humorous way.

and anyway firstly about the 'pretty ' gf -go ahead call me shallow, but no matter how much one can deny it, looks DO matter. Even if you totally love the person for his/her personality, he/she HAS to look at least pleasing to you if you're gonna spend the rest of your life with her!
(imagine your gf going 'hey honey let's take a pic' and she sees you wince.. GG )
I don't need (or want) to have a dropdead-gorgeous gf (like cassandra ^^ ), like what they say, the prettier she is, the harder she is to hold on to.
Furthermore, many people have commented that my judgement of prettiness is quite low (or i easily say a girl is pretty) , so, when i say 'pretty gf' it probably spans a wide category.

Try concentrating on EVERY SINGLE unit you see in this screen, try pulling back units that are low on HP and bringing them in after the focusfire is off them, try controlling a hero with 2 skills , then TWO heroes with 2 skills each, as well as several units with skills of their own .

Try that.

Then tell me if you can multitask.

I just won my first game of solo on Bnet, against a lvl 24 player no less. ;) i was level 1-2. Then at the end of the game he said 'You got lucky' and left.

Ok this is the pwnz.
take a look at this spinning silouhette. Which direction is she spinning? clockwise or anticlockwise?




The truth is, she can be seen as spinning both ways.
If you see her spinning clockwise, that means you're using the right side, or more creative side of your brain. If she appears to be moving counter-clockwise, then that means the left side, or more logical side of your think muscle is superior.

It is possible to force yourself to look at her spin clockwise/anticlockwise though. Took me awhile but i managed to do it.
The trick is to stare at the shadow she makes on the floor.. you can either picture the outside foot shadow going further away (clockwise) or picture it coming towards you (anticlockwise). Once you have that pictured then slowly look up at the spinning silhoutte and it'll be spinning in that direction you tried to picture it as.

See if you can do both anti/clock wise! :)

I dont quite know what the explanation is for this, perhaps it's because she's all black, and our depth/perception is impaired. Pretty darn cool . :)




basically look at the spinning wheel first. note the direction which it spins. then stare at the centre black dot for a while.. the spinning wheel will change direction. :)

Ok for everyone who has at least a basic basic knowledge of the Bible, you should know that the biblical characters i.e. adameve, abraham, etc all lived to several hundred years old right?

Well ok the first obvious reaction will be woah that's long, we all only live like 80+ years now, when someone hits 100+ it's already like super rare and they all look like their skin is falling off and very skeletonish and ancient.

They have no TV, no music, no computer, no NOTHING.

cos pam/nic/subing baked cookies for the class.. they packed it in tupperwares and wrote a short letter for each of us =) nice farewell gift =)
Then.. the cookies were.. quite.. hard. Like i couldnt use my front teeth to break them, had to use my molars (erm the chewing teeth at the back one). Then i was smsing pam, so i said:

it's tiiime to saaay goodbyeee

Today was my official last day in an MOE school. (are Unis under MOE? i'm assuming not)

Had Farewell Assembly, which was a short and simple assembly with some interesting moments. casey leong (this metro male teacher in my school)(think tight-fit collared shirts and pink/yellow colours) was the frontman of this 4piece band (drums/bass/guitar/singer) which sang a natasha beddingfield song!
i must say he performed it quite well. quite feeling and actionpacked. haha.

After it was just.. farewell speech by Fong and some camwhoring.. and after a long long time my class finally left school, we went to botak jones! it's this (supposedly) famous shop in a food-court (kinda like coffeeshop actually, but slightly better condition) which 'sells authentic American food at cheap prices!'
Their fries are huge and delicious la!! i didn't buy anything because i ate alot in the school's buffet already, but then most of those who bought meals couldnt finish their giant fries so i ate all their fries =) DAMN NICE CAN! haha. they're like fat and juicy and tasty and the spices on it are just shiok.

went home after that.. TO SOME VERY BAD NEWS.

'Enlistment Notice' was written all over it. Teehao got his today, he was going in Jan9th which is damn early.

Mmm, i think i'm getting old. I still remember several years ago when someone asked me when my birthday was i'd tell when and then hinthint then i wanted a present. Cos.. i really did want (and loved) presents.


This year when people asked me sometimes i just didnt tell, i told them to find out themselves =X I didnt even -hinthint- when it was approaching.. i figured if my birthday really mattered to them they'll go find out themselves. :)

and ive also learnt not to value presents too much - and adhere to the cliche warning - it's the thought that counts.



But why i'm adopting that mentality was because of an incident with becky tan several years back.

I was msging her and i was worrying if she'll like the present i got for her. Then she said something which is probably one of the most significant things ever said to me in life:

"Dont worry, i will love the gift, because i love the giver =) "



Awww. pretty true isn't it? If our enemy gives us like.. a diamond bracelet. we'll be thinking.. 'hmm what is this idiot up to. is this stolen. hmm.'

but if our best friend gives us the 1dollar toy bracelet we'll be like 'THANKS BESTIE!'

Well ok that was kinda extreme but.. it's relatively true and if we all have that mentality, life will be alot better =D

super freaky ok! yknow we were born on the same day in the same hospital! She was born 12 hours earlier (so kinda 'same time' too cos both of us born at 12oclock. just one AM one PM la)

and weiling! who totally malued herself by misreading my msg. ok i dont think she reads my blog so ill just tell you all.

basically i always call her 'dinosaur khoo', just a nickname i have for her cos she's older (one year older) and she doesnt know alot of .. modern stuff like computer stuff and alot of modern lingo.
Then she said "eh dont call me dinosaur k ill get angry'
which i replied "no lor you wont get angry, you're a nice and kind girl, not petty one."

to which she replied -
"Excuse me! Got ppl want me shows that i'm pretty k........"

LMAO ROFL LOL HAHAHHA. i almost dropped my phone in laughter when i read that. hahahah. super hilarious. she quite malu after that. haha.


mmm, and jesslyn called me during math lecture to wish me. she's full of nonsense too. our conversation went something like that:

Then after school i waited for amanda to finish school too cos wanted to pass her her present. got her a book on Singlish. :) cos she always speak with sophisticated language and her English vocab quite good. so i always suan her say she angmoh. hence the book =)

it's nicer than it looks! it's like slightly formfitting one. and very comfy =) i wore it when i went out with chris.. on saturday..

which is what this next part is about!

i met chris at City Hall for my birthday treat! she was gonna treat me lunch! yayeee. we went to New York New York at Citylink Mall (keep walking from City Hall MRT, you cant miss it, it's after that short underground tunnel, opposite Flash and Splash.)

Mmm, and apparently she had a heavy breakfast (she was too greedy and piggy to resist the toast her mom made so she kept eating . and eating. -_- )
so she ordered sth small.


buffalo wings! this was her meal. and she couldnt finish and gave me 2. That dip thing is cheese, and the wings themselves seem to be marinated in some cheese-smelling thing so .. it's damn shiok! Slightly spicy, very tasty.. NICE!




My meal! It's BBQ Steak , supposedly some award winning recipe thing by NewYorkNewYork. Comes with some potato wedges. It's superrr nice la! Took really long to eat cos the portion is giganormous. The BBQ sauce is just.. mouth-watering =)



ah.. and for dessert we had -



MUDPIE! Some brownie-like thing with crust around it so it's like a pie, some wicked-sick chocolate syrup and a scoop of vanilla icecream =)

yknow initially we both never eat mudpie before. so i suggested mudpie.. then she didnt really want cos .. i duno i think she scared of the name. i mean, MUD sounds pretty sick. haha. but i insisted it should be nice, so we ordered. IM SO GLAD WE DID

COS ITS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD. waaa.. the moment i placed a small small teeny bit of the mudpie (a little chocolate syrup on it too) in my mouth.. i'm telling you all my salivary glands burst open. I momentarily went to cloud nine; the taste really damn shiok!!
chris initially said she'll just eat a teeny bit (before tasting it) and i can have the rest. she ended up eating and eating without stopping :p only until the last piece then she politely said i could have it =) WHICH OF COURSE I TOOK MUAHHAHAA. damn shiok.

i didn't really expect any presents, only know brigidteowaiting giving me and .. maybe joanne i think. i think she mentioned something about givin gme prez on sunday. (she didnt come in the end, her parents dont allow anyway)
but i got more than i thought!!


okkk first when i reached church i saw teeemo getting out of cab with his mom in front of me. so ok hi hi walk into church.. then he reached into his bag and took out a box and gave me. happy birthday!


oooh adidas. at first i thought deordorant (ok dunno how to spell it) but then found out it was..

haven't tried it but looks nice. hehe. can go on date and smell nice le :p

timo is really damn nice la. i think he gets birthday presents personally for almost EVERYONE.





yvonne wrote me a letter! she still holds the record for getting me something EVERY YEAR without fail!! i feel damn terrible i think i only got her something once ? twice? dang i feel bad.
(ok wait i think cheryl also has that record. gee Lees are nice. timo is lee too)


ok then later sunday school! my class combined with j1 class cos uncle ronald was in hospital =X hope he's ok.


oh it's cherie's birthday today! (7th oct) happy birthday!! i folded her a rose during class. ha.

cheryljie came in and crashed our class (cos we were probably making alot of noise ha. got birthdaycake and all, singing song, blabla)

(my previous wallet the coin compartment was torn for quite awhile.. coins kept dropping out. but the wallet had sentimental value. so. didn't replace it .. until now =X )

ahh im sucha happy boy. so many presents, so nice somemore. yknow i kinda expected that ivin would give me shoes or something, cos 2 weeks ago he asked me for my shoe size. but he didnt even wish me :( bleahz false hope.
but it's ok!! i'm quite contented with all that i got. thankew all you amazing, kind generous friends. =) you made a 18yrold boy very happy =D


sigh. i never really stopped to think about what it meant to be 18 until now. I mean, i KNOW that i was going to go to NS next year.. but what are the implications?

-no school for 2 years.
that'll be kinda weird yknow. given i've been in school for 6+4+2 = 12 years!

zomg! i cant bear to! ahh!! -sniffff-
it's weird why i spent 2 years in JC and 4 years in sec school (and 6 in pri) but my best friends from school are made in JC. maybe we make better friends when we're mature. -shrugs-

-little contact with the outside world for 2 years!
besides weekends and.. hopefully i get some vocation where i can go home everyday. slack ! but not clerk i cant imagine being a clerk . eek hope i dont downgrade.

-i can buy beeeer/vodka!
when i went out with chris on sat she kept asking me to buy some alcoholic drink for her =X of course i refused. but i do wanna try soon. like buy it legally =) (yes ive drank alcohol before when i was underage. BUT. it's not a crime to CONSUME alcohol you know! it's just illegal to PURCHASE when you're under 18. so there. :) )

-i have to decide what i wanna work as soon. (or at least what i wanna study in uni ) (if i make it to uni)
psychology or sociology? or even these 2 at all? what are my job prospects. ugh, the responsibilties of growing up. =X


I HAVE TO FIRST CLEAR A LEVELS. yes. 30th oct is my first paper, ends on 20th nov (yes sucks it's like 4 weeks )
