ALMOST SHI SHAN YAO

today i went to twin's house to play mahjong.. overall won money, (chips) $4.20. but i wasnt top winner! ugh. the top winner was $4.60 or so, cant really say who cos that seat got several ppl play before (halfway they switch)


BUT BUT. SOMETHIGN TRAGIC HAPPENED.

I ALMOST MADE SHI SHAN YAO!!!



LOOK SO NICE MAN. (theres an extra useless tile at the right end i didnt include it in the picture)

AND THE NEXT TURN I DREW A ONE BALL.

ZOMG. MEANS JUST WAITING FOR NAN FENG. (the wind)

THEN GABS WON LIKE IN 2-3 TURNS LATER!!

omgomg it's so tragic la. in case you dont know, 'shi shan yao' (in english known as thirteen unique wonders) is THE RAREST win in the game of Mahjong, and also the hardest to build (obviously)
You need 1 and 9 of every suit, the 3 dragons and the 4 winds. And one other tile that is the same as any of these (i.e. a pair)
It's almost impossible to build this hand, because you have to zi muo everything (self-pick) and cannot take from other people.

THen when i started out i had 2 dragons and 3 winds and 1, 9 and 1 of different suits. So i went for it.. and the next 5-6 turns i think i drew 3-4 of what i needed .. so i decided to go for it.
Then.. when i got the 1 ball i almost heart attack.. cos just need nan feng to win.
but.
zzz.

it's like a once in a freaking lifetime thing..it's really like only if you're fated to get it then you will.. i mean, you gotta draw all 14 tiles on your own! it's like 0.00001% probability!
and i came THIS CLOSE. ONE TILE AWAY. ZOMG.
