yippee i found hannibal and red dragon in the school library! they have silence of the lambs too but it's on loan atm, must wait for whoever borrowed to return. come on hurry up!

i just read half of Red Dragon.. pretty intriguing. They still haven't solved anything.. and the character of Dr Hannibal Lector is still.. not very clear yet. The short scene with him talking to the detective was nice though, showed his personality quite clearly which i could recognize from the show too. :)
he's so.. unique. It's like.. there's this page which talks about him when he was about to take a chest xray or sth like that, his pulse was monitored. Then suddenly he grabbed the nurse's head and pulled out her tongue (!!! lol yes) . He was quickly subdued by the other attendants. The startling thing - his pulse rate BARELY rose.

scary isn't it? A scene in hannibal rising also had Hannibal take a lie detector test.. he lied about knowing about a murder pretty comfortably. Pretty freaky! he is so COOL and CALM about killing and lying. :S

having physics mock test paper 3 tmr, studied a little but got tired after awhile. read till my eyes kept blurring and gave up.

It's such a long run. 4 weeks to prelims. then another 1month + to A levels. And A levels itself stretches for almost a month :S

can i maintain the study mood? can i keep going?

ok quick review on the remaining ones which i havent reviewed:

Date movie - lol this is damn funny if you like spoofs. spoofed a ton of shows, including sweet home alabama and Hitch.

Napoleon Dynamite - i got bored after 10 minutes -_- didnt see any plot coming and it was just.. ouch to watch.

Fun With Dick and Jane - mmm.. i dunno i think it should be funny but i stopped after about 30 minutes because i wasnt very interested and was kinda sick when watching.

Hollow Man2 : so-so thriller movie. nothing spectacular.

Jump In! : one of those feel-good movies. Produced by Disney waddya expect :p about this guy who joins a jump-rope team.. and gets ridiculed at first cos it's like a girl sport. But.. quite cool la songs quite nice and the jumprope thing is damn cool.
(main actor is the afro hair guy from High School Musical)

The Devil Wears Prada: i like! very nice show about a girl who becomes the assistant of the boss
of one of the top fashion magazines in the world. a must-watch !

Hannibal Rising: wow not what i expected.. i expected some gory flick with no real plot like TexasChainsawMassacre.. but it's really good! Really good suspense/thriller movie , gore level alot toned down compared to TCM, though of course it will make you squirm a little.
I didn't really know what the Hannibal series was about, and after watching this i really wanna watch the rest or at least read the book 'Silence of the Lambs'! anyone have?

The plot is like.. young Hannibal Lector (around.. 10 years old?) and his little sister (5?) were hiding in their house after their parents were killed in some air raid during WWII. Then the Nazis (or french?) barged into their house and chained them up. Then due to some reasons they couldnt leave and had to hide out in the house, and soon the bad guys were starving.. so they took his sister, killed her and ate her. >.<
So when Hannibal grows up .. he sets out to hunt for these Nazi people who killed his sister in the past. =)
I wanan watch the previous Hannibal series!! who have!?!

hm, wat a fruitful day.

went to suntec convention centre today for an exhibition on scholarships/uni options, as well as a seminar which consisted of 4 parts - forum by 5 (6?) local scholars, talk on US , UK university options, and finally a motivational talk by David Tan of Everest Motivation Centre.


Took alot of brochures and stuff from the exhibition.. quite interesting. i think i more or less i'm gonna do psychology? or something to do with arts and social sciences.
I initially had either that or engineering in mind. Engineering seems like the natural and logical path for me to take, given im taking physicschemmaths in JC now. But after thinking for some time.. i realised i have almost no interest in engineering! and i dont wanna spend my life doing something i don't like.
However, i do like to study people and see why they behave in the way they do. Predicting their next move, guessing their thoughts and emotions. It's pretty fun.
So.. maybe ill follow gabs and do arts&socialscience in NUS? haha i dunno man.


The most interesting part of the day was the motivational talk by the David guy. he was the captain of the first SG Mt Everest team.. and he talked about overcoming adversity and setting 'crystal clear goals' so that we have something to work towards.
Another phrase he kept repeating was 'Specific Observable Behaviour', which meant if really wanted something, our everyday behaviour should reflect that.

Was quite motivated after it and it really made me think - what do i want to do after NS? How am i going to work towards that? Am i going to get a scholarship? how? What am i going to do after the 4-year-bond if i got the scholarship? How am i going to perform at the interview.
Thoughts were racing through my head as i waited for freaking 20 minutes for the stupid bus to come to fetch me home. And the journey was long too, should have taken MRT :/

Yea so .. the important thing is to set crystal clear goals. How am i going to get scholarship? do well of course. Straight As! must must!
So i have to start working hard NOW. Prelims in 4 weeks, A levels in 2 months. (or 3?) must must work hard gogo.

First commitment -> start daily gaming/comp session at 8pm instead of 7pm.

Usually my brain shuts down after 7pm and all i can think of is computer because i already developed that habit. So .. i'm going to change that. One extra hour of study every day = 7 hours more a week! wow. that's like so much more that i can cover!
I'm going to take out all my notes and stuff and lay it out just like when i was studying for BT2. Preparation is the key to success.

Yes yes im going to be a top scorer in my As. I'm going to get the best scholarship for whatever course i'm taking. I'm going to get a good job.

math trail.

day 2 of learning festival! kicked off with basketball clinic.. some pretty boring drills at the start. first drill was layup and i missed my very first layup HA. so loser.
Then we did some bo liao bouncing things then do left hand layup and i scored a few. omg there's this super super extra J1 he keeps going like 'yes, try to jump higher abit. ' 'ok raise ur hand higher' 'your left leg has to go up first' and makes alot of stupid comments for just about everyone?

well i know i'm not the best of basketball players but i know i was doing the layup like probably on par or even better than him (saw him attempt lefthand later) and he just goes on and on. apparently everyone says he's extra (pewi told me)

after that we played match! 3v3. quite fun though i missed quite a few lan-di cos the school rim is SO much higher than our church. Played quite well made some nice assists :p
And.. my team thrashed the j1 basketball team (not the first team, just 3 players from there) 7-2. haha. losers. then one guy goes 'oh i was so relaxed just now ill play serious now'.. yknow the typical badloser remark . then they ask us play till 11.. they pulled back to 7-5 then we had to stop cos the other court wanted to play with us.

ok so after basketball clinic was math trail!! basically.. math competition where first prize is 2gb MP3 player worth $99.

It's like.. 5 stations where you go to solve puzzles. Then you have this separate puzzle sheet which you can solve on the go... like got 5-6 puzzles in it. I solved the sudoku one damn fast.. it was quite easy. Then there was 'Einstein's puzzle' which i solved too :p didn't solve it like that website suggests, i filled up what i could then guess-and-checked the rest.
Ask me if you wanna know what the stations were like, i'm lazy to type out and i dont think anyone will be interested either.

(omg ok i just did a random search for one of the puzzles in math trail [damn i got it wrong!] and i came across a super chim puzzle. The Hardest Logic Puzzle Ever)


and i just finished A History of Violence.. omg it's a super super super boring show. i dont even wanna tell you about it because.. it ruins the show and it's damn boring. damn damn boring. just see the main character killing people very skifully. Like 1v3 he also kill. haha. Not the Bruce Lee Jackie Chan way.. those people only make the person fall down.. this guy KILLS them straight away.
Think smash windpipe, break neck, etc.
Super boring show, very slow-moving, boring boring.

AND finally, i've been practising card spinning. :) i'm not very good at it yet.. here's a video. just watch the first 20 seconds, the rest is lousier. (er that's my mom nagging somewhere in the middle of the video)

learning fest day 1 and southpark.

hmm.. had learning festival today (and tmr)
Learning festival is basically.. no school for 2 days, and students are supposed to sign up for courses such as 'how to bake' and 'learn tennis' and.. 'resume writing' etcetc. Have like 100 over courses i think. Each student has to sign up for 4 courses .

I signed up for Tchoukball, basketball clinic and math trail. Since math trail will be 3 hours it is considered as 2 courses.

okok i know what on earth is Tchoukball you may ask. It's quite hard to explain but i'll try!

it's something like handball.. where you can take 2-3 steps with the ball and you pass to your teammates or shoot. The 'goal' is this trampoline-like net which is angled in such a way that if you face it straight on and throw the ball into it, it bounces back to you.
Ok it's best you watch this video first

dont have to finish it, just watch to see what it's like then read my explanation on how the game works

Similar to handball, there is a restricted zone which no player may enter (like a semicircle around the 'goal') You can jump inside though but must release the ball before you land. A team scores a point if he throws the ball at the trampoline, it bounces OUT of the restricted zone, and touches the floor before the opposing team can catch it.
So for example if i throw the ball at the trampolinegoal thing and it bounces out and the enemy team member catches it before it bounces, it is NOT a point scored.

No interceptions or steals are allowed, the only way for a possession turnover is when i rebound a shot by the opposing team. And there are no fixed sides for scoring, i can score at either side as long as after i start ball i clear the halfway line.

my first team had 2 basketball guys + alwyn and others, and they were damn irritating can. those 2 guys just kept passing to themselves and shooting by themselves so i didn't touch the ball at all for first 2 games with them in my team -_- asses.

Then the 3rd game teams were switched, and WHEW both of them were not in my team. Was more fun cos i got to touch the ball more. never score anything though. but got save some shots. haha.

after that watched john lijian and his dance group perform.. nice sia! hope someone videoed and will upload.

Just watched SouthPark The Movie.. was quite stupid and boring for most of the show, though it does have its funny stupid parts.

ok ... just finished texas chainsaw massacre (-the beginning)...

i swear it's the sickest scariest goriest gruesomess show i ever seen! If you thought Saw 3 was sick (where they cut open the guy's head to operate his brain).. you havent seen anything. Texas Chainsaw Massacre has like 10 of those scenes? haha.

and it's super scary and intense and exciting for most of the show too. like the first hour is just scary and exciting then the 2nd part gets really really gruesome.

Highlight this paragraph if you dont have a weak stomach:

woo just got alot of shows from the twins.

Watched 'Crash' and ' Freedom Writers' yesterday.

Both have an underlying theme of racism, with Freedom Writers being the more direct one.
Freedom Writers is about a new teacher in a high school which just adopted an integrated programme in which students of different races are mixed in the same class. Racial tension is extremely high, and the show basically outlines how this teacher handles the class and nurtures them to live harmoniously. Very very touching show, if you don't tear at least you aren't human.

Crash is also about racism, but it is a much more artistic show in the sense that.. it doesnt really have a main plot,and is just seemingly scenes from different people's life and how they slowly interweave. Each scene is very well directed and hence very .. powerful. Very touching scenes at moments, and very shocking scenes too. That little girl scene was extremely :o zomg.

Both excellent shows, i highly recommend them.

Now im watching 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Beginning'.. basically about how this chainsaw-wielding psychopath and his family of cannibals came to existence. Super super super intense and is one of the best horror movies i've watched(in terms of horror-factor). Not for the weak-stomached :S
Can't finish it now, mom's eating behind me, so i think ill just go eat first and finish it later. Later she ask why im watching this kinda nonsense. haha.

dang i had a sore hamstring muscle the whole week (erm, the underside of my thigh. is that hamstring? dan said quads but i always thought that was hamstring) i have NO idea why. cant remember when exactly it started too. but it was just sore.. like i can't stretch it without feeling pain.

Then today played captain's ball in church.. i already relax damn alot. like never sprint much dont chiong so much. Just hold back.. then even play catcher so can prevent injury.
Then... played basketball after captain's ball.. and FREAKING PULLED THE MUSCLE.

damn sian la the feeling! it's like i cant take a big step now have to walk in small small steps so have to limp abit. and i recall someone saying sth like limping is bad.. if you limp you are putting additional stress on your GOOD leg (the one that's not injured) and will injure that one.

woot. played basketball + captains ball this afternoon.. so damn tired after the whole thing. was super lazy during captain's ball though.. i was practically walking around the whole time while on defence.
there was captain's ball training cos.. family day coming when got BAY vs ATBA vs BATS . (the youth groups in my church)

But my honest opinion is that BAY can't win because we do not have a solid catcher/guard. Assuming everyone plays their best team - we'll need players like giddy/abel on the court.. but who will be guard/catcher then? unless they catch/guard all the way and people like siyuan/stanley run the floor.. but still there needs to be some solid defenders on the court.

The natural favourites seem like ATBA, but i actually think BATS will win. ATBA has the same problem as BAY - key players like tianen/joel will be pullled off the court to guard/catch. There simply aren't enough players.
BATS, on the other hand, have their fair share of court-runners and catcher/guard. Hence, they win gg pwnz.

haha.

went to watch Milo cup U-18 basketball finals. Was combined schools team vs Home United. Was quite close at points.. but combined schools led all the way, pulled to 16 lead then home U pulled back to 2 points.. but combined schools puleld away again. Home U got one star player DAMN zhai! he is like big and muscular and super fast also.. and he made some ownage jumperss.. like one he did the iverson-on-jordan crossover move

Totally cut past the guy and shot a jumper from close to the 3 point line... then everyone cheer. Home U score some very nice balls like one guy shot a 3 pointer 2 guys really jump IN HIS FACE. AND CHOP. super nice la! burn 2 ppl. he must be super confident to still shoot in that situation.

In the end Home U just couldnt pull off a comeback.. trailed by 8 and that star player Mitchell made another tremendous solo basket.. like qie past everyone and layup score. (he's damn big size leh! but damn fast!)
But combinedschools pulled away with solid defence and clinical play, in the end won by .. 7 or something.
That mitchell guy really damn big ! he's like.. ok for church ppl - he's like danloh x1.5 times in terms of body mass (much taller duh) and it's like all muscle or something? for school ppl - he's like jasontan x2 and all muscles.
And he's still damn fast! like faster than.. danielchoo. And his steals are DAMN CLEAN. like 100% ball! he just reach in swipe then steal. damn nice man.. dunno how he so accurate aim his hand.

Originated from games where one team has beaten the other team, so they say it as a.. closure message. like 'nice game'. yknow.
Slowly became more and more popular and is nowadays used as a term to mean.. it's lost. Like when you think the game is lost you go 'GG'. Like.. 'DIE.'.
So when i say sth like 'omg the paper was so hard. gg.' means like... gone. im dead.

Dont quite know exactly how it origined, John said it's a typo of 'OWNED', but i feel it's more of a combination of 'pawned' and 'owned', hence 'pwned.'
'OWNED' means like.. thrashed. Like if i say i played a game with John and he was owned, means he was thrashed.
So if i go "the paper pwned me" means... i got thrashed by the paper. like defeaated and .. GG la. :p

wow i think im the most regular blogger. or lately just a blogging spree. just have so many things to say!

anyway today i had subway for lunch, the 2nd time in my life i was eating subway! First time in my life ordering it alone!
So for those who have eaten before you should know the slightly complicated method of ordering. But the instructions quite clear la, just that i look quite stupid reading the thing on the glass window while the cute girl behind the counter was asking me the questions. like i dont wanna look at her face lidat. but she was quite short so couldnt really see her hahaha.

It's not bad leh! i ordered the cheapest thing on the menu.. erm. some turkey meat 6inch thing. parmesian bread, cucumber/lettuce/cheese topping (only 3 which i knew what it was) , the nicest sounding sauce and.. toasted. nice nice! relatively filling somemore.

Today on my way to school i was waiting at the busstop.. then this big black guy came up to me


ZOMG I CANT DRAW FOR NUTS. But he looks something like that! wearing this blue .. top.It's like those monks wear type one piece all the way to the knees. And his belly is huge.
He said : "Hey man. Are you a christian?"

i blinked several times cos when he approached me i expected him to ask for donations (yknow, like those monks) or something. 'Yes'

BBG (Big Black Guy) : "Which church do you attend?"
me: bethesda bukit arang
BBG: ber - less tier?
me: beTHESDA. b-e-t-h-e-s-d-a
BBG: - confused look- -mutters some gibberish-
me: huh?
BBG: -mutters the same gibberish-
me: er.. im sorry i cant hear you -leans forward-

BBG: are you going to be a pastor?
me: ???
-BBG laughs out loud to himself-
BBG: well if you have any friends who want to be a pastor, or you think are going to be a pastor, write their name down. just write (he gestures with his hands animatedly as he's talking) down their name, every night, pray for them . pray. you see what God will do.

me: yeess.. ok

He then proceeds to pull out a $2 note and asks me for change for bus ride. i searched my wallet but then dont have. Then the bus which we were both waiting for came. (no he wasnt stalking me or anything, he ran for the bus first)
Then he goes up on board then waves his $2 note around to the passengers. (didnt even say anything!! well i guess he was asking for change)
Then some old man came up from the back and gave him some coins. nice old man.

Then BBG puts the coins into the coin thing. Then he like smacks the FareCard reader thing several times.. i dont know what he was expecting maybe for the ticket to come out of the place where the old Farecard used to come out.
Then the bus driver worried for the safety of his FareCard reader quickly pointed to the ticket dispenser which was.. right in front of BBG. BBG laughs out loud to himself again then walks to the back of the bus.

Then he suddenly stops and grabs an old lady by the neck and wrings it and snaps her bones into pieces and throws her through the window which smashing into smithereens.
GOTCHA.
Haha no it actually ended when he walked to the back of the bus but i thought that was kinda boring.


Interesting people we meet eh. :)



p.s. - The BBG didnt kill that old lady la!!! that last paragraph there is fake i just wrote for fun. everything else is real. haha jesslyn ure hilarious ^^

cyril takayama

This guy is touted as 'The best close-up magic performer' and 'better than david blaine' etc etc on Youtube. But.. i think each has his own style la. David Blaine has his mysterious, eerie style and his 'watch, watch' catchphrase.
Cyril is more of.. perform for pretty girls. hahaha. seriously just go search most of his videos will have a pretty girl audience.

Although i can figure out many of his tricks, his execution is pretty flawless. Some have me clueless though, i'm just guessing 'GIMMICK'. (a pre-prepared prop for the trick) (like.. yknow when a magician pulls a bunny out of the hat. The bunny is actually below the table the hat is on, and there's a pedal he steps on which brings the bunny up through the flap in the table and the flap in the hat and into the hat. That's his gimmick. ) (haha jesslyn now you know)

hello.

exam end le. last paper physics mcq and paper 2... GG MAN. i kena pwned totally. I dunno most of paper 1 was guessing all the way then stupid pewi after paper said 'wa the mcq damn easy ' -_-
Then the paper 2 is like :o dunno how to do. VERY FIRST QUESTION got MENTAL BLOCK ALREADY. did some super longwinded way when a simple way could solve it. zzz.

Ok on to the happy stuff.
Went to play mahjong at joels' house today, with joel, cheryl and pewi. His tiles are damn nice it's like blue glitter at the back. haha.

Anyway, we played 6 dai as maximum, just for fun of it. Then at the start.. i keep losing! Table wind dong and nan i keep losing.. then at one point pewi dingzhen (keep winning when he is banker) for 4 games! and keep zhi muo also! but i think 2-4 dai wins.

Then came the pwnage part. I build a damn big hand.. was going for full colour.. the pewi zha hu! He cockeye see wrong tile.. then we voted to play on. So play on.. then later pewi threw the tile i wanted!! FULL COLOUR BAMBOO!! WOO!! MANDAI!
So i basically took almost all his money.

Then then later one another game at the start i drew 3 animals already, so 3 dai already. Then i built a pongponghu with one of the pong my own wind! = 6 dai MAN!! AHHAHAHAHA

In the end i won by $19 overall HAHAHA.
PWNAGE. Most i ever won in my life.


Ok just wanted to boast about it. Those who dunno anything about mahjong.. . sorry. haha. BYE. NO SCHOOL TMR HAHA.

Have you ever had the experience where you just died and drained all your brain cells doing a paper and are sure of doing damn badly. Then your friends walk up and say 'wow that was such an easy paper! sure 'A'! '

new banner

to kick start this month of July, i have a new banner! haha. spent over an hour doing this =X
Basically the pictures are some of my favourite group pictures i had.. and was just reminiscing abit about old times :p ha.
well to be honest bottom right picture isn't as significant as the rest, but i wanted bestie to be on the banner and that was the only group photo with her so.. haha oh well.
in fact, i think ill do short writeups for each haha.

Christmas Musical 2006 Cast - the 2nd musical in my life i have been involved in, the first being the classic 2002 one, with danchoo as the lead and jeanette as narrator REMEMBER? That was very significant to me too because of .. someone. but. ANYWAY.
Yea this 2006 musical was pretty fun because i had an active role in it (previously i was stage crew). Was a Footman! haha so slack and only had one line. But had lots of fun going for rehearsals and memorizing each other lines (through sheer repetition.. i think we performed the entire thing over 20 times? including practices. I wont forget how some of us were at taohui one night after the series of performances and we told Leon about it because he was overseas.. then we basically acted out the whole thing with just 2 ppl haha)
All in all, had a great time. Serene is a really pro director haha. she even wrote me a postcard/letter thing after the performances thanking me for being a footman :) hahah.


Team You Dont Want This - My one and only Dota team, enterred my school's competition and came in 2nd runner up. Was quite stupid how we got eliminated anyway, it was definitely a bad call by the judges, and no i'm not being 'sour grapes' or anything.

Anyway, had lotsa fun playing and hanging out with them, will always remember discussing strategy and shouting out to each other while playing.. and my friend KokTing who makes funny noises while he's playing like 'HUUURRR' (ok it's quite hard to spell out the sound) ^^

BBQ!

woo. yesterday was fun.

Started off with Catchphrase at gabs house, until it was around 4 then we all went down to help with setting up the stuff. Then me and giddy snuck (past tense of sneak?) off to play tennis! haha. i think we were quite even and we both sucked terribly at service. Our best of 3 match i ended up losing cos i served for the 1st set and last set, all double faults except for two. Then for him he only made one successful serve in his set.
Man we suck at service.

After that i went to help out with the preparation and stuff.. and more people came.

Kudos to the twins + serene + dom + danloh+ josh + whoeverelse i missed! they were manning the BBQ pits one way or another, twins taking most of the heat daniel was like melting like the butter he was SO sweaty yukk.
But ya if they didnt help BBQ we wouldnt have any food! So they raWkz.

After that played a little more tennis.. sheesh im really good for a nub. Can do decent rallies except when kenneth returns with some weird slices and spins which cannot return one. ha. he damn irritating he play like damn relax not even putting much effort into his shots but all easily going over the net and where he wants.
And oooh for taboo... i average 5 words per turn !! Haha . The whole day playing taboo, everytime im the person describing the word, each time i did 5 words. And i had about 4-5 turns so.. that 's pretty good eh :p so funnn Taboo.

woo. joel's bbq thingy @ gabs house today. had fun almost the entire day =) funnest day of the month easily (erm, let's pretend it's still june). of the year? dunno la.

dont have pics which are all on jesslyn phone so .. will wait till tmr to post them up and write abit. but first.. just a little funny stuff that happened in TABOO. (the game where u guess words)

in church we played taboo.. like after the service thingy. raylia shows up and joins in.. and she proves herself my happy pill once again =) she's SO funnny and kawaii ^^ <3
