Asian Food Trail !

The girlfriend suggested an 'Asian Food Trail' as I was going to the US soon, and I would probably miss Asian food. So... away we go!

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="636"] Laksa Yong Tau Foo @ Cineleisure Koufu ($4+)[/caption]

This is one of my favourite YTFs - they always reheat the fried stuff to make it crispy/warm again, and their ingredients are all large sized, so it's well worth the cost! The laksa this time tasted a bit salty/oily so it wasn't as good, but it was better the previous time I tried it.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="396"] We decided to take one retarded photo for each food dish to make it more interesting/fun haha. Here's my contribution[/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="394"] The pretty girl I was with[/caption]

After a bowl of spicy laksa, what do you need? Something cooling of course!

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="398"] Eskimo Mini Bubble Tea @ $3.50 (Large)[/caption]

I look like I have constipation in my retarded photo so I shan't post it here. You can check out all the photos we took on my Facebook!

The next item isn't really Asian food but we wanted to something to buffer between Eskimo and our next item so...

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="407"] Fried Mars Balls! @ Chippys (Plaza Sing basement)) $3.50[/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="435"] "What sorcery is this? Fried MARS BALLS?! "[/caption]

Mars chocolate, deep fried with a thin layer of crispy batter, with a scoop of ice cream. Chocolate high!

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="514"] Mango Shaved Ice @ Ji de chi ($5.00)[/caption]

This place is a little hidden, near Bugis Junction. The store's name is in Chinese, which literally translates to 'remember to eat'. I LOVED the little ball thingies at the side - they had some delicious sweet liquid inside which you have to bite the slightly hard exterior to burst and it explodes in your mouth YUMMY.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="496"] Char Kway Teow from Old Airport Road (the Lao fu zi store) $3.50 (or $3? can't remember)[/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="423"] Otah from Old Airport Road. 50 cents apiece[/caption]

The CKT was a bit sweet and not too salty - means less salt but more soya sauce? Tasty enough, but those who want something with more kick may want to add chilli or try somewhere else. Can't remember which stall the otah was from, we just googled for the best one there and bought it. Tasted ordinary.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="526"] 51 Soya Beancurd @ $1.50[/caption]

Of course, any trip to Old Airport Road isn't complete without 51 tauhway!! :D Yummy

We decided to take more photos at this point.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="472"] Sorry I was forced D:[/caption]

It was still a bit early when we headed over to Serangoon Gardens for the last phase of our food trip, so we headed to the little shopping mall nearby. The last time I was in Gardens, the mall had not even begun construction! We went up to the roof level and it was this nice garden-y place so we just stayed there to chitchat. I thought the place was quite nice for photos so we snapped a few!

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="473"] This pose probably tells you why my modelling application got rejected (besides the fact that I'm not hot) (no I didn't actually apply to be a model it's a joke dammit)[/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="522"] I wanted to do the Titanic pose hahaha but dunno why she damn paisei to do it. Nice what![/caption]

Was pretty fun talking and doing nonsense on the rooftop.. she was singing some Guides songs and dunno what and we ended up playing some clapping games (those that little girls play) hahaha i'm sucha girl. Anyway.

We headed over to Chomp chomp for the last phase of our food trail! All the below food items are from Chomp Chomp in Serangoon Gardens

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="507"] Fried Carrot Cake ! $3[/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="398"] szehong is amazed by the hugeee cup of Lime Juice @ $3[/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="444"] Rojak for $3![/caption]

The rojak was ok only - more than half were vegetables /fruits - like cucumber + pineapple. Would have loved more of the soft soft dough things (youtiao? dunno what it's called)

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="541"] Satay @ 50cents a piece[/caption]

Satay was pretty good! The chicken was nice and tender and easy to bite (not like some where it's really chewy and tough to peel it off) Gravy was awesome too.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="538"] Hokkien Mee @ $3[/caption]

Dunno why this hokkien mee had a lot of the beehoon-like mian... I thought hokkien mee is all the thick thick one? Yellow and white thick thick one. It was pretty good nonetheless, though could have been more tasty (Ive had better).

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="800"] Our spread at Chomp Chomp! :D nomnomnomz[/caption]

In total we spent $35 ! That's $17.50 per person which is pretty damn worth it, no? It's like the price of one meal in a restaurant, and we got to eat SO much more. :D Got to spend some precious last few moments with the gf too... can't believe I'm leaving in A WEEK'S TIME!!

ah well. I would do this again, but probably with different food. And maybe with a group of people, so we can order more food hehe. Need a car though. Hello, driving friends?
