I used to be a fan of the Lakers until I started watching Celtics games and was won over by their attractive play and their hardworking point guard Rajon Rondo.

I mean, if you watch his hustle plays(most memorable was Game 5 vs Magic where he chased down a loose ball behind Jason Williams, DIVED and got the ball even though he was like 2-3 steps behind Williams, and proceeded to lay the ball in), watch his hardworking spirit (top rebounding point guard), watch his amazing vision (most assists in a season for Celtics franchise) and his quick hands (leads the league in steals/game) ... how can you not fall in love with a player like that?

what a week

To say this week was awesome is an understatement.
(ok i must forewarn you i'm quite tired as i'm writing this so i may crap alot cos when i'm tired i get high and when i'm high i write nonsense. so yea. enjoy)


My job assignment at IBM was last week, and this week i have a one week break, then i go back for another 2 (and now maybe 3, cos of bestie, more on that later, if i remember)
So I was thinking, i have to enjoy this week, since it's my break. then back to worrkkkk. not that work is hard or anything, on the contrary, it's ultislack, but oh well, it's still waking up before 7am every morning and having less than 4 hours of computer time (leisure computer time, not work computer time) .

So, i started planning activities for this week. And somehow, i managed to line up something for each day!


Monday
Was very last minute, but arranged to meet chris in the late morning for basketball! lolol. and i cycled there! shiok, i pedaled harder and faster to get more workout cos i knew i wasn't gonna get much workout from basketball.
Ended up shooting for a very short while with her, play around abit, then went to eat lunch. hahaha ok 'play around abit' sounds wrong but WHO CARES. i'm tired.

Yup yup. time with bestie is always good and fun. went home after that to download LOST FINALE. which was, well, covered in the previous post so i won't talk about it.


Tuesday
Met bestie (who is chris btw, if you're some noob who doesn't know me or doesn't read my blog) to go try 'Wo Ai Taimei', this shop recommended by a colleague.
It's a Bugis Street, and sells those Taiwan Street snacks kinda stuff like fried chicken cutlet, etc.
I bought the BBQ chicken cutlet (which wasn't THAT fantastic.. just ok ok.) and the fries.

I know it looks super unhealthy and all cos of the supposed MSG.. but the seasoning is not the same as Mcdonalds one, taste less MSG-ish, and more authentic seaweedish. So it was damn shiok. Problem was it was abit small. so. :(
But look at how thickly coated it was :D

We watched 'The Losers", which was such a shitty movie I'm not going to bother writing about it. Weak plot, weak acting, weak everything. But the funny thing was when i went to the box office staff to purchase the tickets i was like:

"Hi, 2 tickets for The Losers..."

the moment i said that i realised it sounded wrong. hahah. the counter staff i think hear this alot of times already so not funny anymore.

Then before (and after) the movie me and chris went arcade to play abit. cos got time to burn (and money) We played the basketball game:



The one on the left is bestie's one.. yes yes she beat me on our first game. i keep overshooting.

Subsequent game i win her la, i reach last stage she died at level 2 or something.

Ok sorry no more pics of this outing cos bestie is very camera shy so our outings usually no pictures.
On a similar note, the passport photo she submitted for NUS looked really terrible i hope it's not really a student card otherwise.. she'll regret . hahahaha


Wednesday
Went running at ECP! With shinster.

We met at Marine Parade Library which i swear is the WORST LIBRARY IN THE WORLD. Ok no not world probably just in Singapore. And i guess 'worst library' is not entirely accurate because the measure of a library is.. i dont know how also.

BUT BUT. let's say a measure of a library is the quietness of it. Not that bad right, since people go there to read and study.

IT WAS FKKKKING NOISYY!!!

There's this cafe-like place on the first level, and the 2nd level kinda overlooks the first level with a balcony kinda thing. Like you lean over the railing you can peek into the cafe place.
And the thing is, the cafe sells some fruit juice or some smoothie or SOME NONSENSE THAT USES A FREAKING BLENDER.
So like, every 5 minutes there's a WRRwrwrWRWRWRwrWRWRWR sound blasting through the entire freaking library.

damn ridiculous can!! i was trying to do math but the annoying noise was very distracting.

Ok anyway back to the run. We ran like from somewhere along ECP at some grass patch , one loop past the chalets, and back. Supposedly around 3km but it felt more like 2km+ .
And somehow i had the strength in me to.. run faster than shinster. haha.

The start was damn terrible.. yknow how the starting 5 minutes of a run is the worse part, cos your lungs and everything needs to get used to the exertion and used to pumping oxygen around your body. But once you cross this invisible line you shift into a more comfortable gear and running isn't as tiring.. till whenever la.
Then right, when we JUST started running, we ran into some chemical bombing site or something.

Ok maybe not chemical bombing but got like super strong pesticide.. and even when we ran past it there was some badly smelling nonsense that made breathing difficult.

Buttttt i somehow conquered that part and got into the comfortable gear and I could run faster than her haha. otherwise MALU.

Then after that we went Ajisen to eat, yummy. But damn ex can. my wallet feels lighter.


Thursday
I originally had this day scheduled to just chill at home and watch shows / do some math .. but something happened with qin and she was sian and wanted to go out so i went out to pei her.
SUCHA good friend right.

ok anyway, i brought her to eat the yummy grilled chicken from PS Food court (must eat!! it's damn shiok i tell you. the sauce for the chicken just makes you melt in your seat and the coconut rice is damn fragrant and nice. )
And then we watched Prince of Persia.

Which, tbh (this means 'to be honest) SUCKS. Like, i don't know what i was expecting.. but yea the plot was quite choppy and there was a major plot jump (lol kinda like a pun) where:

after the uncle plunged the dagger into the sands of time hourglass, wasn't it supposed to unleash the powers of heaven or something and destroy the world? how come it miraculously reversed time to that moment where they just 'captured' the city? Super huge plot jump la wth.

There weren't many funny lines either, it's like those which made the audience stifle a giggle weren't really that funny. Not like Ironman /Ipman2 which were really good. (Ironman2 has ALOT of funny lines btw, just that they talk really fast and with their accents, you probably didn't catch half of it. But with my training in listening to western accents i caught all of it)

ok yea then home home.

Went Pulau Ubin to cycle!!

ok the main reason why i decided to go was because i still had a headache and i didn't want to stay at home cos if i do then i sure stare at the computer for very long and then make it worse.

My first time there! Yup. I didn't go there before for OBS or whatever reason you may have to go there.

the end of LOST

DON'T WORRY NO SPOILERS IN THIS POST, ONLY IF YOU WANT TO READ THEM, THEY'RE ALL IN WHITE.

So, minutes after finishing the finale of LOST, here I am, writing a blog post, reading through forums to get a better idea of what the heck went down. There are certainly LOL posts such as this in a thread of 'What questions/mysteries were answered?" and someone said
""We learned you can fix a jet with duct tape! ""
(This is SLIGHTLY spoilerish i guess, so read it at your own risk)
Which was just lol if you actually watched the episode.

An epic series of 6 seasons which was certainly a popular series winning several Emmys and lasting so long despite its enigmatic nature and high budget, finally ended.

I'm not going to tell you how it ended, because out of context, it's going to make no sense and not be good. But was the ending good? Read on.

-Spoiler begins, highlight text to read if you want to know-
The ending of the flash sideways being the afterlife was actually semi-predicted earlier on in the middle seasons. I recall reading a particular theory that the island was afterlife some seasons ago, and i guess he wasn't that far off.

Is it a good ending? I don't know. There are still many questions unanswered of course, like how the hell did MIB suddenly become vulnerable and can be killed when bullets can't stop him (neither can knives)
How did Ben suddenly get out from under the tree??
Why did Charles Whitmore want to get to the island so badly, and why use Desmond?
How did he know all about Jacob/MIB and know he can stop MIB with pylons etc.
This was one of the biggest plot hole IMO, he goes through so much trouble to get to the island.. and then tries to run away no wait, HIDE IN A DARK ROOM from smoky, and dies. lame.

Other questions:
What exactly is the light? Why does pulling a plug out put out the light? Why doesn't Jack die to the electromagnetic radiation since Desmond is supposed to be the only one who can pull the plug?

the rest are all minor questions like
What are the numbers?
Why did Jack's neck start bleeding during the afterlife flashes at the same time when Locke pricked him on the island?
Why did Egyptions build the statue?

Well ok i can go on and on, but i won't. I thought the ending was satisfactory - not good, but satisfactory. But what i'm unhappy about is the reaction to the ending!

Now i'm on the forums and people are going 'omg lost writers you suck you wasted 6 years of my life' and 'what a joke ending ' and yada yada. But seriously, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? I actually started a thread there suggesting a 'create your own answer' kinda thing, let's see how it goes.

Though I am satisfied with the ending, if I had to give a viewpoint :
I would have preferred Season 6 to just be an entire season of answering questions with flashes to previous seasons (Think the Adam/Eve = Jacob's Brother/Fake Mom scene in 'Across the Sea' )
This gives the sort of 'ohhhh' feeling that many 'complicated' movies have when the plot twist comes and it explains the whole story with flashes to the beginnning of the show, usually with some sort of narration.
I guess this would have placated most fans by giving them what they all seem to want ' answers to their questions'.

who says playing computer games is a waste of time?

I have defended gaming before in a previous post, but never really had any concrete proof that gaming is GOOD, just that gaming isn't bad. Like i could still play games and still do well in my studies, because it's all a matter of time management, and non-gamers still do other stuff as much as i game such as watch tv, go out, etc.

But today, i can say one thing - I have benefited in a measurable way from gaming, more specifically, from playing World of Warcraft. In what ways? you might ask.

Ok as some of you might know from this post, I've been trying to sell my WoW account for awhile as I'm going to uni and i'll stop playing WoW. So i advertised everywhere i could think of - HWZ forums, classifiedadsonline, friends, blog, facebookmarketplace even!

I got my first offer within a day of putting the ads up, but that person never really made any offers, and the 2nd person who offered wanted to just buy one character instead of the whole account and it complicated matters.
Negotiations broke down and he stopped contacting me.

So it's been almost 3 weeks since that last offer. And so i wasn't really thinking about it. And those who follow my blog will know that my account got hacked like two weeks ago, and only got restored last tuesday.

And it all started with this sms on wed morning.. i just woke up to go to work and was still all sleepy so i thought i was dreaming:

"Hi, I saw your account on Singapore classified and was wondering what prices have been discussed with you before. I am no good when it comes to setting prices however i can negotiate with whereever you currently have your targets set."

So i just told him about that previous offer for $400 (i would have gotten much less actually, long story) and came up with an imaginary previous offer of $500+.

Then he replies:

"I could probably go for $600 for the whole account"

So at this point i was about to eat my breakfast and obviously with this kind of shocking news early in the morning i was jolted awake. So as i was thinking about what to reply him another SMS comes in:

"Sorry I meant to say 700. iPhone predictive text doesn't seem to work properly quite often"

And another SMS within a few minutes, i still haven't replied:

"However, this pricing is slightly flexible if you have any specific price you would like"

WIN WIN WIN .
Imagine jackpot machine sounds going off in my head. At this point, it was clear that he could go higher because of that 'however' message, so i said something like "Hmm 700 sounds good but i heard my account is worth about 800..." and i did some breakdown of what i had on the account to 'prove' it.

"750 is my final offer :) "

OK SET was what i said. or something to that extent. hahahaha.
so i just arranged to meet him at Serangoon Macs for the transaction, and borrowed bestie's laptop (she came along too) . So he came with this friend too, they're both aussies i think, should be expats? Did the whole transaction rather smoothly, without much conversation.

and KACHING!! I am $750 richer!!! wahahha.

So, who says playing computer games is a waste of time? I earned about $500+ from it! (because WoW has a subscription fee of about $25 a month, and i've played for under a year)

And i've learnt alot of real world skills from playing WoW too because I frequently lead my raids, so it teaches me organization skills, man management, leadership skills, etc.


And now, time to wait for July 27th for Starcraft II :)

new work old work

So, i just started work at IBM @ Expo again, the same place as i worked last time.

At first I didn't really know what i was getting in to, because i didn't know where I would be working at. My previous office people were SUPER SUPER nice probably the nicest colleagues i'd ever have. They like buy me brownie when i never go for lunch, always talk to me, treat me very nice. <3 them to the max!

So anyway, I met the person i was supposed to liaise with and when we were walking up to the office she mentioned the name of the person i was supposed to take over.. and i recognized it! So i asked her 'is it level 3 ?' and she said yes!

Same office!! same people!!

I was so happy can! I walked in with a smile and waved at the people I knew. The exclamations of 'eh !! ALANNNNN!!" were so heartwarming!
Like there was one point where this person walk past and went 'EH?? ALAN! HOW ARE YOU!!!!" like really exclaim out loud. Then my liaison was like 'wa you so popular ah'.

hahahaha. well no it's not i'm popular, it's just that they're really nice people. So. haha.

Learnt a bunch of thing which i totally didn't understand, hope I can pick up the stuff before i take over. whatever the case, i'm in a good place, so i'm happy :)

how to plan a birthday party

Ok i have gone for 3 birthday parties this year (21st year for me, so my peers also all turning 21 ma, so all throw party) , got invited to more but didn't go for all of them.
ANYWAY, i'm not an awesome birthday planner or anything like that. Just that after going for these 2 , i've had alot of thoughts about how not to do mine, so just penning it down for my own reference.

1) Don't do a chalet/BBQ
There are about ten thousand reasons why you should not do a chalet/bbq thing for your birthday. My experience for this isn't just for this year, but from past chalet/bbq experiences too.

Firstly, the place is freaking small? Unless you plan to invite like a grand total of 4 people or you are a midget who has been shrunk even more and all your friends are the same size, there is not enough space in a chalet for all your friends.
it's like, 'oh please come in..' - look around for a seat to offer, but guess what, there's no space, so u gotta change ur mind - 'want a drink?'

It always ends up with people sitting outside (if there's even space on the bricks/whatever) and with a bunch of people next to you in the next chalet within arm's reach whom you don't even know. Crowded, uncomfortable, not nice.

Next, there's the problem of manning the BBQ pit!
Like, having a BBQ is great and all if you like barbequed chicken wings and satay and whatever. But who's going to man the pit? You need someone to sweat his guts out at the pit. Plus, he needs to be good. Not like me who just stands there for 30minutes turning over chicken and not knowing what he's doing.

Like, i'll feel damn bad making one of my friends man the pit for me. Like 'hey do you mind standing near strong heat for the next hour or so and perspire like a dog to cook food that you won't get to eat?'

And usually when i go to a bbq after eating for awhile ill start feeling guilty then go over to the pit to offer my assistance (which is exactly what i did today as well as at becky's one).. when i usually just end up turning stuff over purposelessly (i dont know if there's such a word but it's a tongue twister! try saying it fast 3 times) and chatting with the person at the grill.

If i ever do lose my mind and do a BBQ /chalet (ok no i wont do a chalet) i'll hire people to barbeque the stuff for me! Problem solved.

Third, it's extremely unhealthy too. Say hi to the sky Cholestrol and Blood pressure.


2) Invite in groups of at least 4
The people you invite to the party needs to come in at least 4. Not 2, because they'll get bored of each other after awhile unless they are extremely good friends who haven't met in ages or something. even then, they WILL run out of things to say and poof , bored.
Not 3, everyone knows why. (Cos 3 is a crowd)

4 is the magic number, cos with 4 you have a GROUP of people, they can chat randomly, they can play card games like bridge/taiti, they can do random stuff.

Becky's party i was with chris, and the 2 of us despite being able to talk about anything under the sun, did get bored after awhile. boon's party i was with pewi and jem, and well we caught up abit, but after awhile, we were just sitting around doing nothing.
Both times, I just decided to go over to the grill to help cos i was bored. And both times there's a nice pleasant person at the grill there to chat with. how lucky :)

And by observing the other people who were there, those laughing and talking alot were in groups of > 4, which proves my theory.

The problem is... i'm not really a big-clique kinda person. I make good friends 1 to 1, but i dont exactly hang out with a big bunch of people alot. How will i invite people like bestie, qin, becky without violating my fantastic4 theory? hmmmmmmmm.

3) If you want to make it fun, go all out. If you have a theme, take photos, have games, etc.

I've attended a party with a theme + games (cheryl's) Was totally awesome imo, enjoyed camwhoring with funny outfits, and lame games. And of course it wasn't a bbq (catered), and it wasnt at a chalet(function room of her condo), and she followed the Fantastic4 principle (church ppl one bunch, and her sec sch clique of 4)
Then i've attended another with just a theme which not everyone who went followed.. so it was odd. And no games.

4) If you are writing a post about planning a birthday party, do it before 2am.. if not you'll get so tired and stop writing and not end properly.

So while i'm bored, i'm actually levelling another Priest. Just hit 68, ding! can go Northrend to quest now!! Ah, so close, soon i'll be raiding at 80 and playing disc/shadow! wahaha. I don't wanna play Holy as it seems to have alot of mana issues and being a hpally.. i'm not comfortable with mana issues haha.


OK , now more stuff for those who have no idea wtf i'm talking about.

I'm being asked this question so many times that it's getting more and more embarassing to answer "So now, what are you doing?"
And the expected answer is 'working' or something, given i have like an infinity's break (since November)
My answer will be some sort of defensive one like 'oh , nothing much, but i've been giving tuition, and working part time on and off', with the latter parts being things that I throw in to make it sound less pathetic.

Yes, it's pathetic. I'm practically bumming my time away, playing WoW (which i've quit twice..(blogger autocorrect says no such word as 'quitted'. Really meh?) and came back. cos there's really nothing much to do. ) , giving tuition (which has more or less ended since school hols are here and my students dont want during hols).

Feeling guilty? Yes. Feeling like I need to make a drastic change? No. I'm pretty content with what i'm doing now, though doing MORE will certainly make me feel BETTER. What i really want is more tuition students, since after giving tuition you feel that any other 8-5 job is totally ridiculous and not money-efficient.

I feel inspired to write a book though. Or a story of some sort. The channel 8 9pm show gives some interesting story points that i can build on.. but then again, that would require prying myself away from my level 68 Blood Elf Priest... which i want to hit 80 and start raiding!
So no.

Oh oh, i want to play basketball!! Really do. Ideally i want to play like, everyday. gotta improve my dribbling skills! super fail now. Watching so much NBA (the playoffs are on now) is very inspiring :D
I hope celtics win!! They are 3-2 up against Cleveland now, and if they win they'll play Magic in the eastern finals.
On the other side, it's Lakers vs Suns in the western finals... which lakers will prob win.
Celtics-Lakers final!!! it'll be the dream final. I'd love to see Rajon Rondo blow past Kobe and dish out to Ray Allen and CHOPPPPP 3point!!!

Oh wow. what a screwed up night this was. First i miss my stop and the bus ended up going for 15 mins in the wrong direction (on an expressway.... thus no stops) and turning up slightly late for tuition.
Then i come home to two guys waiting to chase me for something.

If you're wondering what on earth i'm doing, im preparing to give tuition la! I'm still looking for sec3-4 e/amath kids, so to be ready I'm doing papers. I just finished an Amath paper in 1hr 10 mins.. (2 hour paper) .. so slow! i'm aiming to finish it under 1hour. :)
And yes, full marks of course. albeit 2 careless computation errors in the final step which i couldn't care less.

So, just a quick update of my life for whoever is interested. I just had the urge to write but i don't have any topic to write on so I'll just do an update.. and maybe inspiration will flow.

As you may know from the past few posts, I'm going to stop playing WoW. I have already canceled my subscription which ends May 22nd, so I suppose that'll be my last day of playing WoW.
I'm trying desperately to sell my account, posting at various forums and advertising pages. Hopefully someone comes up with a good offer!

I am not working atm, just waiting to enter university in August. I'm giving tuition though, with 2 students currently, looking for more! Hopefully can get one Sec1 one then can follow through all the way to O levels =X haha.

I'm enjoying my freedom right now, sleeping late and waking up whenever i want. (i'm usually up by 11am though, which is pretty early compared to the ppl i know who are free and all wake up after noon every single day)
However, i don't mind getting some sort of part time job. I do want the money. Like bestie who stole my job at IBM and is earning some big bucks with like more tuition than me.

BUTBUTBUT, the best thing will be to simply get more tuition students! Cos tuition is easy to give and I just need to study and prepare some work which is easy for me and teach those kids! Seriously, my target is like to have tuition every day. Or at least 5 days a week. Now only 2 days :S

On a side note, i just started watching Glee!! I must say I didn't expect much cos it sounded like some lame show but since everyone was watching it I decided to start watching too. And since i have some imba dl speeds (1000++kb/s ) i finished DLing the whole season within an hour. I'm at episode 12 now!

It's a really good show, not some cheesy musical with no real script. The drama is good, they have really HATEworthy characters (SUE SYLVESTER OMG CAN SOMEONE PUNCH HER AND TEAR HER MOUTH OUT) that make you just so infuriated, they have eye candy (Finn and Mr Schu and Puck (did i get that name right)... where are the chio girls! I dont think quinn is that pretty and rachel has a huge nose lol)
and most importantly,
They have REALLY good songs.

Like seriously! The cast have such awesome voices, they make American Idol seem like a joke. I just got the soundtrack volume 1 and 2, I think there's a 3 so i'll go find it too. Totally awesome songs! Good music, good singing, good voices, what more can you ask for?

Have the two BiS trinkets for Holypally ( Meteorite Crystal + heroic Solace)

Offspec is Prot with decent 245/251/264 gear, including the LK25 Mace (yes 271 tanking mace)
Have a decent ret set too, with a few pieces of 277 gear.
Enchanting/Mining both 450, maxxed.
Virtually all WoTLK enchants including berserking, black magic, etc.

Ah, i have come a long way, in the World of Warcraft. Today, i've accomplished what is probably my final goal in WoW, and will probably be stopping when my gametime runs out.
It's time for real things in life, time to save 25 bucks a month, time to move on.

I'll just do a quick run through memory lane..


Back when i was level 20+, and simon was plevelling me through Scarlet Monastery. Was pretty interesting, seeing my XP bar fly up with the 3x XP bonus from RAF.



And then dual-boxing ZP's druid to 2man ZF :)



And i won't forget the glorious moment i got my first level 80

DING!!!


And one of my first few raids, though this wasn't in an instance but rather for the achievement 'For the Horde' where we had to storm the Alliance cities and kill key leaders.



I don't have any pics from naxx and ulduar , sadly :( well i only really started guild raiding in ToTC anyway. Was in a guild called NothX for a brief period and did a bit of raids with them in ulduar, but i was still in army so couldn't do much.

One of my first titles! Twilight Vanquisher! This was for Obsidian Sanctum + 3 drakes up.


Raiding in ToGC25 with Newbee's combined group.. which is probably the strongest they'll ever get, sadly. Carrying too many lesser ones, the good ones have such potential though..

Yessss. The reward from completing the Glory of the Icecrown Raider (10) achievement! Was pretty tough as some bosses are just hard like Sindra, and some achievements were just a pain in the ass (Full House zomg.)

But it was worth it!! Have the sexiest drake in the game (well, there's the 25man one but don't think i'll be getting that anytime soon) (and yea screw Celestial Steed it's lame all you crazy people. I'll never spend Reallife money to buy stuff in a game -_- )

And my 2 goals are accomplished (get Kingslayer, get Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher)

I can quit in peace now.
